How Does Security Film Work?
3M™ Scotchshield™ Safety and Security Film, Ultra S800 series offers a thick layer of optically clear protection over the glass doors and windows of businesses and homes. When paired with 3M™ Impact Protection Sealant, the film works even better at keeping intruders at bay.
3M security window film is a multi-layered, clear-looking, tear-resistant safety film for windows and glass. At 8 mil thick (9 mils thick where paired with the adhesive), the safety film holds broken glass shards together after impact – preventing flying debris that can harm people and property. The glass protection film has proven to withstand repeated impacts for up to two full minutes before breaking apart – which adds additional time for emergency officials to arrive.
3M’s attachment system is designed to improve the overall performance of the security film. A sealant, the “wet glaze” is engineered to anchor the window film to the frame of a glass window or glass door. This further secures the film in place, adding even more strength and tear resistance.
3M security film has been tested against break-and-entry, bomb blasts, high winds and explosions.
