Five Reasons to Install 3M Auto Tint on Your Hot Car

Advanced Window Tinting installed 3M auto tint on a red sports car within its Jacksonville tint shop.

3M auto tint is designed to improve the comfort, privacy and style of your vehicle.

The Florida heat can be brutal and, when parked in the sun, so can the interior of your hot car. Here are five reasons why people turn to 3M auto tint to improve their ride.

3M Auto Tint Can Lower Heat

3M auto tint is scientifically designed to lower the heat in your vehicle.

3M’s state-of-the-art Crystalline Black Film Series is constructed with hundreds of layers of thin film, each one specifically placed to deflect the sun’s harmful rays away from your car’s glass. The film series has proven to reject up to 46% of total solar energy and 95% of the sun’s heat-producing infrared rays. Studies have found that those who have installed Crystalline Series on their rides have experienced up to 26.5 degree temperature differences than those with competitor films.

Worried about changing the look of your car? While other options are available, Crystalline Black Series also comes as a nearly clear tint with similar solar energy fighting power. This results in a difference you can feel.

3M Auto Tint can Reduce Glare

Drivers are safer and can be more at ease when they have 3M auto tint protecting them from harsh glare.

Direct sun glare is at its worst when the sun is lower in the sky, more perpendicular to the horizon, because it can shine directly into drivers’ eyes while on the road. Glare can also be caused when sunlight bounces off windshields, chrome, trim, buildings, water and even road signs. More than 9,000 vehicle accidents are related to the sun’s glare each year in the United States.

3M Automotive Window Film is designed to reduce glare. The darker the tint, the more glare reduction. 3M’s Crystalline Black Series can reject up to 81% of glare from blinding sunlight. However, even the clearer CR BLK 80 version (which is a light tint) can reject up to 12%.

3M Auto Tint Blocks UV Rays

3M auto tint adds a layer of protection on your vehicle from the sun’s harmful UV rays.

UV rays are the leading cause of fading furniture and flooring in homes – and, long term, can wreak havoc on the interior of your car – causing cracked dashboards and faded carpet and seats. The sun’s harmful UV rays are also the leading cause of skin cancer, according to the Skin Cancer Foundation.

“You may not know that while window glass blocks most UVB rays, the ones that can burn you, UVA rays, which can lead to tanning, premature aging and sunburn still get through. (Both UVB and UVA rays cause skin damage that can lead to skin cancer.) Window film, a laminate capable of blocking up to 99 percent of UV radiation, is an effective solution that’s often underused,” according to the Skin Cancer Foundation.

3M window tinting blocks up to 99.9% of UV rays, leading to a more safer driving experience.

3M Auto Tint Improves Privacy and Security

3M auto tint can provide increased privacy and a level of security for your vehicle.

For more privacy, darker tint levels, like CR20 or CR40, make it more difficult for people to see into your vehicle – while still providing between 17% and 33% visible light transmission for you to be able to see out. (To put this into perspective, think of it like looking through sunglasses. VLT up to 19% are ideal for bright, sunny conditions and 20-40% VLT is good for all-purpose use – but while you can see out of the glasses you wear, people can’t see your eyes with the darker tint.)

For more security, 3M’s Scotchshield™ Automotive Safety and Security Window Film adds a layer of protection to the glass to prevent unwanted intruders. The film works by holding broken glass shards together after impact – delaying full entry by up to two full minutes. This prevents glass from flying and harming people and property. Not only is this a nice feature to have during a break-in attempt, but it also is a nice feature should you ever be in a car accident.

3M Auto Tint is Backed by a Strong Warranty

3M auto tint is backed by a manufacturer warranty when you have it installed by a 3M™ Pro Shop dealer like Advanced Window Tinting.

The film is guaranteed not to crack, craze, peel, blister, bubble, discolor, turn purple, or delaminate from the glass.

3M’s Automotive Window Film warranty is valid through the time that you own your vehicle so you can rest easy knowing you have made a wise investment.
